Spalding pre model Ty Cobb professional model game bat is uncracked and shows evidence of heavy use. Many ball marks and several stitch impressions are visible on the right, left and back barrel. Also visible on the barrel are green bat tray streaks and cleat marks. The 38 ounce weight and 34.5 length are perfect use characteristics for Cobb. Cobb's facsimile signature Tyrus R. Cobb is burned into the Spalding center brand. The appearance of the signature allows this bat to be dated to 1908. Cobb's first signature contract with J.F. Hillerich & Son began on October 13, 1908.
